DSA Seminar: Data Science frontiers in Oil and Gas Operations

Dr. Vikram Jayaram will be speaking on Data Science in Oil and Gas on Friday, November 30, 3-4:30p in Devon Energy Hall 120.

Advances in Data Sciences and increases in high throughput computational architectures, cloud-based solutions have driven present-day decision making through the analysis of petabytes of rich data coming from the oil fields. Not only that, in the recent trend of global oil price decline, these advancements can save time, reduce operational expenses, enhance efficiencies, mitigate risk and manage health and safety. Data Science technologies have now become an integral part of the operations of most oil and gas companies, allowing them to gather large volumes of information in real-time and translate data sets into actionable insights. In this talk, Dr. Jayaram shall go over a few prominent use cases where AI technologies have made the most impact to our businesses while also pushing the state of the art of its usage in our industry for various sub-surface operations and economics.

Dr. Vikram Jayaram has over 15 years of experience in advancing the field of artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) both in academia & industry.  His interests are in developing AI powered production systems for advanced E&P analytics. Before joining Pioneer he was a Principal Research Scientist for Sabre Corporation, where he architected the next generation revenue management systems prototype utilizing AI / Game Theory models. He has also worked as a Sr. Research Geophysicist with Global Geophysical Services & also served as Sr. Research Scientist with the Oklahoma Geological Survey and also University of Oklahoma.
