Teaching Scholar Award

November 2017:  It was just announced that Dr. Charles Nicholson has won the 2017 Teaching Scholar Award from the Gallogly College of Engineering at the University of Oklahoma for excellence in the scholarship of teaching.  The announcement during the General College of Engineering faculty meeting last week was both a surprise and an honor.

2017 Teaching Scholar Award

This award was given, in part, due to his efforts in developing the online course curriculum for the Master of Science degree in Data Science and Analytics.  Video introductions to his two graduate courses are available on the Courses page of this website.

According to him however, it was probably due to his “amazingly funny jokes” that he persists in telling in class semester after semester after semester…

Thank you

Dr. Nicholson would like to thank Dr. Shivakumar Raman, the interim director of the School of Industrial and Systems Engineering, for the nomination;  Dean Tom Landers and the committee who decided on the award recipient; and, the faculty, staff, and students who wrote recommendation letters on his behalf.  Thank you.
